What is PPA coating?

Grade 316 PPA coated stainless steel banding is a type of stainless steel banding that is coated with a layer of polyphenylene oxide (PPA). PPA is a plastic polymer that is known for its excellent resistance to heat, chemicals, and abrasions, making it an ideal coating for use in harsh environments or in applications where the banding will be exposed to high levels of stress or wear and tear.

The grade 316 stainless steel base material of this type of banding is known for its high corrosion resistance and is often used in harsh environments or in applications where the banding will be exposed to moisture or other corrosive substances. By adding a layer of PPA coating, the banding becomes even more durable and resistant to wear and tear, making it suitable for use in a wide range of applications.

Some of the main benefits of using grade 316 PPA coated stainless steel banding include its high corrosion resistance, excellent heat resistance, and excellent resistance to abrasions and chemicals. It is also strong and has a high tensile strength, making it able to withstand high levels of stress without breaking or deforming.

Overall, grade 316 PPA coated stainless steel banding is an excellent choice for any application where durability, corrosion resistance, and resistance to wear and tear are important factors. It is commonly used in the construction, marine, and aerospace industries, as well as in other industries where high performance and reliability are required.

Properties of Stainless Steel Banding

316 Stainless Steel Banding is often referred to as Marine Grade steel which withstands exposure to harsh weather, saltwater or sub-sea conditions. 316 stainless steel contains an addition of molybdenum (comparing to 304) that gives it improved corrosion resistance. This is particularly apparent for pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.

Most often 316 Stainless Steel is used in food processing equipment, chemical and petrochemical equipment, chemical transportation containers etc…
